Wednesday is a slow down day

Today, Wednesday is a slower day for activities during Semana Santa.  Almost everyone gets holiday time during this week.  The roads have not been very busy.  Many people are expected to arrive for all of the activies scheduled starting tomorrow, Thursday.  Concerts, plays, art exhibitions as well as all the traditional church activities, the largest being the procession of silence on Friday night.

We went to see the Museum that Nuria is director of, Museo del Artes Contemporanios, ie the modern art museum.  They are in the old post office that was remodeled four years ago.  She had just installed a very interesting show which included extra labeling and signs for the sight impaired to touch to feel the design of the work.  All of the sculptures could be touched and moved.  It felt funny to be given permission to touch in a fine art museum.  Very elegant, well curated show!

The last two days we have been photographing in the market halls, Los Mercado's.  George, our guide and fellow photographer, is so good at talking with people that they laugh and agree to photographs.  We've gotten some great shots.  We have been too much on the move for me to sketch the last couple of days.  Once Fred has finished cropping and touching up I'll post a few photos.  We toured the Centro de los Artes, a local art institute which until not long ago was a prision.  The old solitary confinement cells have become individual display spaces.  Todays show was put on by the textiles department.  A few blocks away is one of the very important Churches in SLP, the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.  We  had a quick look inside, but will return tomorrow to witness some of the ceremonies that take place here. Took a taxi back to George and Martha's.  It has been good to get inside as the midday sun is quite intense.  We decided it was OK to take a midday siesta.... All those great photos can wait until this evening when the light is  better once again.  So today I actually have a few moments to post here.
